Hope someone here can help me!

I just recieved my brand new Dell Studio 1555 and its already broken! 3 days ago I loaded the Sims 2 deluxe game onto the computer. I then tried to load one of the sims 2 expansion packs. The first disc loaded fine but when I inserrted the second disc the drive would not read the disc. It made a whirring noise like it was trying to read the disc but just kept going. Now the disc is stuck in the slot drive and I can't remove it. Eject won't work and the drive doesn't recognise there is even a disc in there.

I emailed Dell technical support who suggested downloading the appropriate CD/DVD driver from their website and I tried to do this but when I try to install the frimware it comes up with the message "Target Optiarc BC-5600S is not found correctly" and will not load it.

While I'm waiting for Dell to get back to me I thought I would see if anyone here has any advice.

there should be a tiny little hole on the front of the drive find a paper clip and push it in the to manually open it.

go into device manager in control panel and find your DVD drive and right click then press uninstall then restart your computer

Mr Moo: Its actually a slot drive so doesn't have the pinhole. Will the uninstall work if I can't remove the disc.

Tomcat57: I tried to eject this way, it comes up with a error message.

Yes, It should work even though a disk is in the slot loading drive.

Well, if you have done everything that Tech Support suggested..I really wouldn't mess with it any more!

That, is what your warranty is for..Let it serve you properly and for the best. No reason to muss your system up even more. ;)

If you have OnSite Service with your warranty, have Tech Support Dispatch a Technician to repair. Or, have it repaired per how your warranty reads.

Otherwise, if you are w/in your 21 days of date of invoice, have Dell send you a new replacement, if it's that bad. ;)

    Cin ;) :)
