Hi! New here and to the laptop world.....
am finding it hard to figure out whether I should go for the 6000 or the 600M....I had almost decided on the 600M (lighter for the wife!) but then I read a review where it said it gets quite heated after use!

I am looking to get a machine which can be somewhat of a desktop replacement (surf the web wirelessly, play MOH demo version maybe!?),use for word processing, powerpoint presentations and also easy to carry sometimes....with a decent battery life?

Can anyone please give me some input on this based on my needs?

    Thanks for the help!!!

I just ordered a Inspiron 6000, and I would recommend it.

The 6 hours battery life on the upgraded battery is hard to beat for a laptop. I dont think the 600M can do such great battery life as the 6000. 6 hours should be enough to charge up overnight and use all day (not literally, but I mean the whole day when you need to be on a comp) without charging it up again.

Better build quality than Dell. Keep in mind if you buy at NewEgg, once you break the tape on the box you own it. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies.....I ended up reading almost all the Dell forums I could find and settling on the 6000....might as well get something new..I read somewhere that the integrated graphics hold up ok......plus with the better battery life and a decent price tag(below 1000 right now from Dell) I just couldn't pass this up..

The Acer one looks too good....but the major thing that threw me off there was the no-return policy.......I am so new to the laptop world that that would have been too much of a gamble!!!!

lets see if I made the right choice................
