Hi all! I am having some trouble here. I just tried to upgrade my current processor in a Dell Inspiron 1520 from an Intel C2D T5250 to an Intel C2D T8300.After replacing the old CPU with the new I put my laptop back together and then press the power button. The three lights by the power button light up and the caps lock button in the middle of the three lights starts to flash then after a minute or two the computer shuts off. I thought it may have been that the CPU was DOA so I popped the old one back in there and got the same thing. I have the most up to date BOIS from Dell A09 as well does anyone have a clue as to what I need to do here? Thanks for your help!

Take out the battery and AC power, hold the power button for 30 seconds to clear the settings.

You could have tightened the heatsink too much..

What happens if I tightened the heatsink too much? I tried removing the battery and AC power cord and pressing power button as per instructions but nothing happened.

What did you do with the thermal paste / pad that was on the gpu and processor?

I put more paste on the processor after I replaced it... I am not sure what you are talking about as far as GPU goes.... But when I removed the heatsink I cleaned off the old paste with rubbing alcohol and then put some Arctic Silver on the new processor...

You can see both the cpu and gpu on the heatsink here in a picture from my website. Unless you dont have a gpu? The only reason i brought it up was because the gpu uses a thermal pad not thermal paste because the heatsink can not reach the gpu without the thickness of the thermal pad.

Another thing you could try is reseating the memory (pulling it out and putting it back in.)

Just keep trying.. its bound to work sooner or later.

Make sure all connections are in.

Double check the service manual if you missed something

Thank you soo much! I just reseated my memory and the laptop booted right up! I didn't even think about that since I didn't really mess with it...
