Alright well I got my Vostro at the beginning of the month but I haven't had much time to mess around with it due to college stuff. Well I have noticed quite a bit of light leakage. I love the computer so far, it's perfect without the light leakage issue. Though it has started to bother me especially with watching DVDs. Which I will be doing a lot of in college. Here are some pictures.

If I call Dell and ask for a replacement will they send me one and if I'm not pleased with it could I send their replacement back? Thanks.

Right click the "generic PnP monitor" in the Device Manager, and click properties. Click the details tab in the window that pops up and then click Hardware ID in the drop down menu. It should then list your manufacturer in the letter and numbers that follow the slash after MONITOR.

I have similar light leakage and it is the only issue I have with the whole laptop, but it is a big one.

I'm about to call Dell and see what I can do, is there anything else other than getting a whole new system I could do to get rid of the leakage?

Well I called and got someone I couldn't even understand, who didn't seem to help the problem at all and just put be on hold. Is it a better idea to "chat online" with a rep?

    Sorry for the double post.

    Wow, that's great to hear!

It's funny because after I hung up he called me back telling me they were sending me a replacement system, he was helpful also but yeah didn't understand light leakage. And I'm past my 21 days which is crazy.

One last question for anyone who has used Dell's replacement program, if the replacement I receive has a problem or is somehow worse than my current laptop's problem, could I just send them back the replacement system? Thanks!
