Hi, Ive got the 3 year on site warranty on my e1505 and I was having trouble with my dvd burner so I went on the Dell onlien support and they are sending me a replacement drive, now I checked on the order status and it says the drive is $100 something, it should be free since its covered in warranty. Are they gunna charge me for it or is it just for their records

Nope. They do that for their records. They'll send you a return label with your new drive, and you'll have 10 days to return your old drive. All you do is stick the old drive in the same box, stick the return label on it and tape it up. Then call ups/fedex/dhl to come and pick it up.

Once Dell gets it, they'll remove the charge from your account.

I would think it would just be insured directly through UPS. SO if they lose it they replace it. Dell is usually very fast when it comes to replacing a part on your computer. Like if the HD went, you would mail that in, and in a day or 2 you would have a new HD from dell. This part of their service is very good. It's just getting a hold of someone who can handle your problem and questions that’s the hard thing with dell... ;)

All the parts I've received have been shipped via DHL. When you return the old part the driver signs your invoice indicating the date and time they picked it up.

davejohn is right - they'll sign it so you'll have proof that it was picked up and you'll have the tracking number on there (or at least should). If not, write it down. Then you can track it on the appropriate. site.
