Step 1. Admitting you have an addiction

I AM ADDICTED TO CHECKING ON MY 1520'S BUILD STATUS
I have called 4 times today, and have my order number memorized.

Honestly, once i get my laptop i will no longer have anything to waste all my time doing :(
I want to complain about how long it's taking but once i get it i won't really use it all that much...

I have few games, and a desktop to play them on.

    Anyone else?

I was addicted, been clean for a good 12 hours now. Though I am now addicted to the tracking page, I have left it open and come back to it every couple minutes and refresh the page to check for the next update.

just wondering, is the phone more acurate than the internet when tracking the status. ive been hearing different things.

one more thing. when i call, is this thing automated. i had problems understanding the lady yesterday when i had to clear up my billing issue

There is an automated status number, (800)433-9014.
It will say something about you just being able to say your number and other useless info...
This is the only dell number i have ever dialed ;)

It depends 1stStrike. The website will desplay either In Production or Shipping if you don't log in. If you log-in you get the expanded one (for instance mine says Pre-Production). The Dell guy I just talked too said my Vostro should move from Pre-Production to real Production on Monday or Tuesday, yay!

You can type your number too...

I think i'm going to have it set up so that it will dial the number and the order number ... and set it on my speed dial! LOL

I have been an addict to the order status page for 2 months now, first with a 1505 that i cancelled and now with a 1520. I check the status page at least 20X a day. Still in build stage.

When you dial that number you can just enter your order number without waiting for any prompts. I just put both numbers into speed dial. However, my ship date is too far away to get too hot and bothered yet. :D

Yea, i checked it about 4 times at work today just hoping i go from build phase to TESTING! But my hopes are crushed every time, I'm gonna call dell and think of a reason to piss and moan and see if they can expediate it :D

Yep that was my next coarse of action, i was a mere day away from making up some kind a problem to have it expedited, even if their "expedited" merely means we are on schedule and plan to have it to you before your ship date anyway. :)

They will gladly expedite it.... but their definition of "expediting" the system is to offer you next-day shipping. :-(....

In addition I have become a forum addict, I just can't get enough of hearing about everyone else's laptops and how all these laptops ordered after mine are being shipped, yet mine is still in building phase :(. I think I would rather be addicted to crack, at least then I know I will feel good at some point...lol.

I have 5-6 tabs open at a time every day on fire fox, Dell, Gaming, Hardware, Accessories (occasionally), Windows, and then multiple more for all the threads i find and want to read... then one for the dell status place and one for my computer if i built it today to see what its shipping date would be...

I'm addicted too, I check the online status at least 10 times per day hoping it will change from being in production to shipped, and I've been hoping for that for 12 days now.
I would check the phone status too, but it doesn't work for Canada.

What I don't get is how is it possible that I ordered mine on 7/7/7 and will be here on monday while you are still waiting even though you ordered yours 10 days yearlier...
Could it be because I ordered mine over the phone?

I HAVE GOOD NEWS! "Mabel" or whatever it was in customer service, and I had a nice talk today. I told you guys I would call and complain which i did, I told her that after ordering my laptop on the 8th of july, I called Dell and was reassured that it would only have a 3-5 day build time and now it has been building for six days. She understood and told me she would send me a case number and forward my case to the "concern dept" and they would make sure to expedite (exact word she used) my system. However it will take 48-72 hours, nice save Dell... She told me I would receive a call back on the 23rd at some time during the day and we'd go from there... This will turn out to be interesting...
