I've replaced countless laptop drives of all sizes. They have always had pins as connectors.

I just took a look at my son's 1520 laptop drive and the connecter is a flat board, and not pins.

Am I missing something? Where do I find drives with these type of connectors specifically? And can the 1520 us the 'normal' 2.5" laptop drive with pins?

    Thanks,
    UL

SATA on top, IDE on bottom. The 1520 uses SATA HDDs. All modern computers use SATA HDDs.

SATA drives have been used for 3 or so years on laptops now I believe.

LOL....except for the Dell, every other computer I've opened has been 3 years old or older come to think of it. So it's all SATA now? Does that mean ANY 500gb notebook drive I purchase on the web would be SATA and fit the Dell 1520?

What a great board by the way.

    Thanks,
    TM

You will have to make sure that it is a SATA drive (in the description). They still make and sell IDE drives.
