    Help ASAP!!

    Hey all my friend is working on his project on a Dell XPS Model PP14L and for some reason he gets a blank white screen and then the laptop shuts down. He needs to finish his work tonight so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks !!!

    You don't give much info to go on, so just a quick guess: it's overheating. Try cleaning out the vents with canned air. Good luck to your buddy.

    What kind of software does he use, when this happens?

    There really was no other info besides him working on 3D CAD and that it never happened before.

    It might be something with the graphics card. If he is lucky its only overheating and it should be dusted, if not the card could be fried, and there is nothing that can be done except replacing the card.

    What about other 3d apps, games or something that uses the graphics card intensely.

    Nothing else. It will turn on after also so I highly doubt the card is fried unless you know better =)

    If everything else runs ok, he should try a system restore to a point were the computer ran flawlessly. If it still does not solve the problem, it could be that the file he is working on is corrupt, so he should try another file.
