160GB 7200rpm
8400M GS

Well, i hear that there is also a coupon for $300, maybe you can stack it with the 250 discount, and if not, then, still.... $300 is more that $250...
I believe the coupon code is: G01JG242730SDT -
The $300 coupon is what I used

bump the topic!

can anyone else help me out here?

How did you get the first price/config you posted? Provide a link if you could as well as coupons used. Thanks!
My setup for a 1420 that's in production is essentially the same, but a 120GB 5400 RPM hard drive, 6 + 9 cell battery, and 3yr in-home, but no accidental. Total (including tax) was $1160, plus a $100 Dell.com credit/coupon. Does that build include tax? Even with my $100 coupon to use for extra stuff, your first build sounds slightly better perhaps.
What's the $250 student coupon and is this through Dell EPP? Because that's where I purchased mine. -
www.dell.com/cua
then the $250 coupon ( www.delluniversity.com)
i go with the BEST config, then the intermediate $1210 warranty laptop.
Delaware doesnt have a sales tax, so i dont pay tax. -
don't use the delluniversity coupon, it's a ripoff
but order today because tomorrow a new deal starts with a % off which won't help as much
anyway yeah how did you get that first deal -
u can bring the processor to 2 ghz.. coz i think every body would agree that the price to performance ratio is not that great... someone with a 1.6ghz 5250 got a very good score on all the tests.

does anyone know of any other way to get discounts from dell besides student coupon ?
-
sometimes calling in and speaking to a rep will allow either extras added to the order for free or an extra percentage off. this is due to phone reps trying to make sales to help themselves, etc.
-
Wait... why cant you use the $300 coupon?
-
He's probably in the EPP section via his school network. He'd have to go through the main dell site to get the $300 off coupon to work.
By the way, now that I see that delluniversity offers $250 off... is there any way for me to get that extra $50 off from the coupon code I got for only $200 earlier this month? -
thats what i might try to do
