    Hey guys

Just curious whats the difference between the

Intel 3945 WLAN (802.11a/g) Mini Card

    and the

    Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini-Card [subtract $23]

I went with the intel one?

I believe my in home wireless router is a g?

The Intel card will work with 802.11a, which uses a higher frequency wavelength. You wouldn't normally use 802.11a unless you have some interference problem with the 2.4 GHz band that 802.11 b and g use. The Intel card works with 802.11b and g also. The Dell card only works with 802.11 b and g.

Some Linux users have said that it's easier to get the Intel card working in Linux.

It's not that you'll use A if you have interference, it requires special hardware. The Intel card is a tri-band, using A/B/G while the Dell one is just B/G. The Intel one is Linux compatible, while the Dell one is not. Some say the Intel one has better range and speed, however that's up to you to judge...but the Dell one does have more advanced features. Hope this helps :)

I like how someone asks a question to be specifc and you answer his question in a reasonable manner....but then add to the mystery by being very vague about these "Advanced Features". What are these?
