Hi, I'm probably about to buy a new Dell Vostro with T8100, 2 gbof ram and 128 mb of dedicated video ram.

So I'm undecided which type of display resolution to choose and if or not to choose the display with integrated cam.

I'll use the laptop only for office/programming, mainly indoor.

I've read that the display with WXGA (Anti glare) resolution is not so great.
Is it better if I choose the WXGA+ display (Glare type) ?

No option for a matte WXGA+?

It really does come down to personal preference in the end; there's no real "right choice" in choosing a screen. I mean, if you value the screen estate, just go for the glossy WXGA+; you'll be using the machine indoors most of the time, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. If you really want the matte option and don't really give a damn about the resolution, the WXGA+ has only a slightly higher resolution than the standard WXGA.

I'll note that you can always turn DOWN the resolution on a high-res screen if the icons are too small for you, but you can never turn UP the resolution on a low-res screen (without replacing the whole thing, of course).

Objectively looking at what you've said, I'd go for the glossy WXGA+.

As for the webcam... if you feel like you're gonna have a use for the webcam during the lifetime of the laptop, just throw it in. I don't think it's a very large added expense. You can always just... not use it if you don't need it.

Yes... I'll use the laptop "only" indoor and I'd like to have vivid colours and a good definition although for office/programming usage.

The "problem" of the webcam is not the expense.
    It ise very limited.

But in practice I'll never use the webcam so... I'd not want an adding weight or a possible source of "problems".

The weight is a non-issue and it won't affect your system in any other way... I assure you, you can pretend it's not there if you aren't using it. But I mean, if you're sure you're not gonna use it, don't get it. Simple as that.

I'll probably never use the webcam and then... I'll always add an external webcam... if needed... right ?

If you're saying that, get it with the webcam.
