    Hi there:

I just received today my new inspiron 1420. The thing is i'm pretty dissapointed, cause i've read that 1420's didn't have the piezoelectric cpu whine or whatever that noise is called (you all probably know about it), and mine has it!!

I can clearly hear it when there is little noise and when moving my ear towards the fan of the lapto.

Also, i got a very crappy screen. It is VERY grainy. Device manager shows it as an MONITOR\AUO1447

I think i had very bad luck, but the thing is i don't know what to do next.

I know i can get the screen replaced if i contact tech support, but the cpu whine torments me, because i've read all over that the problem seems to be in the design of the dell systems which causes some sort of interference.

I can also hear the noise when i connect earbuds to the headphone jack.

    What should i do?

I read somewhere that dell plans to solve this problem with a new motherboard revision, so should i request a full replace of my system??

Please, anyone who has an inspiron 1420 and has suffered from the cpu whine tell me what you did. I dont want to install RMclock or that stuff as i feel it is only a patch solution.

    Thanks for everything"!

You could request a full system replacement, and you'll be able to at least use the current one until you receive the replacement and choose which you'd rather keep
