But when I formatted my inspiron 1525 & reinstalled windows with my vista home premium cd in it and tried to install bluetooth in it. it says press Fn+F2. I tried all options but no success. i put my driver & utilities disk in laptop and extract bluetooth module 355. but after extracting it says active blue tooth by pressing Fn+F2 or radio switch on\off.
i pressed Fn+F2 but response is nothing.i also installed QuickSet.But when i moved to hotkey in QuickSet , i didnot see the impact of pressing <Fn> + <F2>.How do i solve this problem? help me please..hix hix
I also tried some instructions on the Internet. Such as "You have to use your CD with drivers from Dell and unzip the bluetooth driver to C:\dell\drivers\R140135. After that close the Fn + F2 thing and go to that directory. You will have 2 folders Win32 & Win 64..depending on the vista version you have installed use the folder coresponding to your OS. Launch "Inst.exe" and wait until another Fn+F2 prompt will apear. Close this prompt and the install will finish. Restart your computer and after Vista boots up you will see in the tray the bluetooh icon. Right Click to turn the adapter on and the drivers will be reinstalled. Let me know if this worked for you "

i also tried the instruction of Mr Thirstee " i had the same problem with my 1520. Heres my solution. There is a problem with reinstalling windows or dropping your system to XP. You need to get the following file and install it BEFORE you install the bluetooth 355 driver set.
    http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=213714

I know its on the euro site, but it works. Download this and run it and then download and run the 355 bluetooth drivers and you will be working great!"

Is it enabled in the bios, did you slide the wireless switch?

After you ran the file Btw_on.exe, did you see the BT icon on your taskbar? If so, now run the original 355 BT Dell drivers you installed. If you don't see the BT icon, double check that it's on in the Bios screen (sounds like it is). If it's still failing to work - I'm at a lost as well and you might have to contact Dell support. :(

This is a dumb question, but you are sure you got a laptop w/ BT right? :)

When ever you reinstall an OS with wireless and/or Bluetooth, it is an unwritten rule to have both switches on from the very first boot with the install CD/DVD in the drive. This is the only way the device manager will see the bluetooth device when you install the software. All the other devices are already hot and sitting there in the laptop when you install their software.

Make sure both bluetooth drivers are installed. Look near the top in Device Manager under "bluetooth".

    They should be both enabled.

If both are present and enabled then disable each one at a time and then reboot your laptop.
You should then see your bluetooth icon on the bottom right of task bar.

If this doesn't work for you then delete/unistall both drivers; leaving both wireless and bluetooth switches on at all times and reboot; then reinstall bluetooth drivers.
Please notice windows comes with its own OS bluetooth drivers, but the install Dell drivers use Widcomm. Either will work.

Also in Vista, make sure wireless is on. Then go into the wireless connection software and select bluetooth (while the bluetooth switch is on.)

    Hope this helps... ;)

no capable devices found means your bluetooth hardware is not "on".
If you have a bluetooth dongle it must be in the USB port when asked for.

Either way the bluetooth switch must be on from the very beginning, otherwise it will cause alot of minor irratating and confusing error messages until you've done it 50 times like I have recently.
And it is a combination of rebooting, reinstalling drivers (preferably the correct ones for your lappy), while the hardware is constantly on.

This is why Tripwire asked you if you were sure it was on. You need to have both drivers enabled and present under Bluetooth devices in Device Manager.
When this is the case you are only one step away from connecting.

Hi guys its my 1st post here and I have the same problem that the one on topic.

I have a Vostro 1510 and I made a downgrade from Vista to XP and now I cant install the bluetooth device.
I've searched the web for some solutions, but none of them seems to work.
I've try the R159805 patch but i got the error: No capable devices found. and I try to deactivate and reactivate the bluetooth on bios but nothing... when I try to instal the software it returns me an error that cannot find any bluetooth chip (and yes my notebok has BT).
    Any help?

    Tks

Yes I tried everything in this and some other treads, but nothing. I spent the last day trying to resolve this problem but I cant turn on the bluetooth device so it can be installed.

In Device Manager I have no conflicts with anything and I dont have any bluetooth in there.

I received the notebook yesterday and the first thing I did was to install XP.
I didnt try the bluetooth to see if it works cuz I asumed that there was no problem with it but now im thinking that it could be some internal problem :S

I have WinXP Sp3 with the latestes fixes

Go into the Bios and look at hardware info, if you are as unlucky as me you may find there is no Bluetooth module installed as what you're going through is oh so familier  I had bluetooth enabled in there but no module installed so obviously, no bluetooth driver would install :(

Sounds like a funky problem you guys are having. I would make sure you download the newest version of your bios from Dell's support website and flash it. After that go check the bios and see if anything changed at all. Also for those of you re-verting back to XP from Vista, ensure you have the appropriate XP driver and not the Vista driver for your bluetooth device. If you can't find this on dell's site, go look for the name brand of your bluetooth module online and see if they have drivers for it. As mentioned above also, you should make sure all devices are enabled and turned on when you first turn on your laptop to reload windows so it detects everything on the new go around and asks for drivers for it. The only way to get this done at your point is to reload windows to ensure that isn't the problem. And as far as that driver CD that came with my Dell I can't make heads or tails of the files on it as to what components they go to, I'm sure it's full of Dell crapware anyways.

mmm maybe TRIaXOR is right, maybe my computer dosent came with BT module installed.
But its so weird cuz I have the opcion to enable/disable it on the bios, and the notebook has a little BT icon right next to the wi-fi one.

And yes I have the latest firmware :S

If you have the BT icon in the task bar, then you should pretty much be good to go. That means at the very least, Vista or XP knows that it's there and you can probly use it as is to pair w/ other BT devices. However, the Dell 355 drivers are fairly comprehensive and so I do recommend installing them. Do you get to the "push Fn+F2 to activate" part of the installation process?

If you are doing everything and still not getting the BT icon in the taskbar, then I think sthg is seriously wrong.

The BT icon its on the notebook (phisical) not in windows, I cannot install the software cuz it dont find any BT Device.
I contact Dell and the said that I prolly dont have BT module, so I guess that's my problem, the same one that the TRIaXOR.
But how do I confirm this on the BIOS (hardware info - where is this)?
