I am an all time Dell fan. Although Dell laptops in India are costly still I want to buy Dell Inspiron 1525.

I have attached the quotation for you all to review and to share you comments.

It will be very difficult for me to add better model of any component as I have got a very stiff budget. However if some of you have had any nasty experience with any of 1525 components, do let me know.

    I have following main queries:
    1. What all Linux OS does it support?
    2. Battery backup.
    3. Does it have a glossy look. It is very difficult to make from Dell website. If any of you can upload some high resolution pics of 1525, it will be great.
    4. Has anybody run XP on it?
    5. Considering the market situation, Are Dell laptop prices expected to fall or rise in coming week or perhaps in coming month (India)?

Also do let me know other brands and their model numbers offering similar kind of configuration.

    Cheers,
    Parag

I can only answer 3 and 4. With the paint on the covers, it is matte, with the inlaid patterns such as "street" and "chill," it is glossy. The surfaces on the palm rest and around the keyboard are shiny, but they don't show fingerprints, and you almost never have to clean up your fingerprints. It's great. Also, people have got XP on it, it used to come with XP. I think they used the Dell Vostro drivers.

    1. It can run Ubuntu, Dell sells it with Ubuntu infact.
    2. Do you mean battery life? Can you buy larger or extra batteries?

What about Dell studio? Any reviews ?

Does it lack popularity? I couldn't find much details on this forum as well about Dell Studio.

What benefits does Dell studio hold over Dell Inspiron?

I heared that XP can't be on Dell studio?

Just a few things, backlit keyboard, LED screens, discrete video. I like mine a lot.

Can we install XP on Studio?

Performance wise which is better, Studio or Inspiron? and

which one would you folks recommend ? - Assuming that both Studio and Inspiron have more or less same configuration.

and which of the Studio color has glossy/metallic feel?
