On another note I just purchased a used dell latitude d610 off of ebay. Its a nice system. The seller said it has 8 months left on the warranty and that dell will transfer it to me as the new owner. My issue is there is no service tag sticker at the bottom of the laptop... furthermore there is no service tag shown in the bios. Is there some other place I can look on this thing in order to get the service tag and get the remaining 8 months of warranty. Can I open the laptop and the serivce tag be printed somewhere inside the computer. Please help as I need to use the warranty to get the screen fixed. or am I just SOL

I think the service tag is embedded in the Bios. When the computer starts, press F2 to enter setup (or maybe it's delete, I don't' remember) and you will enter the bios, there should be a category called "System" and underneath you can find a subcategory called "System Info" where the service tag should be listed. I dont know if it's implemented in the D610 but it is in the D620.

I did that and it seems that its been changed it reads "see you sucker" so I think the person or some person changed it. Please let me know if I can open the laptop and find the service tag in there somewhere.

thats crazy man. i honestly don't think there is anything you could possibly do now except trying to identify the system by providing dell with your MAC address..its a long shot that worth taking
