On another note I just purchased a used dell latitude d610 off of ebay. Its a nice system. The seller said it has 8 months left on the warranty and that dell will transfer it to me as the new owner. My issue is there is no service tag sticker at the bottom of the laptop... furthermore there is no service tag shown in the bios. Is there some other place I can look on this thing in order to get the service tag and get the remaining 8 months of warranty. Can I open the laptop and the serivce tag be printed somewhere inside the computer. Please help as I need to use the warranty to get the screen fixed. or am I just SOL![]()

Try going here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
Click on the enter by service tag and see if it can use the system profiler to find yours automatically. -
go to customer service, i remember there being an option for them to scan youir computer and get the tag. didnt work on my new 830 though
-
i tired that and it says invalid tag the tag in bios actually says "see u sucker" is there a sticker or something inside the laptop or on one of the internal parts that will tell me the true tag number
-
if it says see u sucker id imagine the guy has scrwed u over. to answer your question im not familiar enough with dells to be able to tell you

Oups, didn't see that you already checked in the bios, sorry ...

I did that and it seems that its been changed it reads "see you sucker" so I think the person or some person changed it. Please let me know if I can open the laptop and find the service tag in there somewhere.
