Hi There!
I purchased a brand-new Dell Studio 15 laptop with Windows Vista on it. I opened the package and started using it.
After few mins of normal usage i.e. no gaming, just browsing through the drives, checking pictures etc (less than an hour) the touchpad started heating. I am not able to use it at all, its burning my fingers.
I have been using other laptops for a while but this Brand-new Dell Studio 15 is just can't be used.
What shall I do now? Is this a known problem? :-( Please help.

If you can't use the touchpad because it burns your fingers, something is wrong with your cooling system. The Studio 15 gets warm, but you should be able to keep it on your lap and touch it comfortably.
Contact Dell tech support as soon as you can. You probably need a new heatsink, and the overheating can damage your processor if you don't take care of it. -
Its normal with this studio 1555 it heats up from touchpad area. I am saying its normal cos its allmost for everyone and i got mine replaced for this reason but still the same. so i can say its with this ablity

I have exactly the same issue and I'm getting it replaced...

I am having the exact same model, i spent hours on it playing GTA (completed the game today
) No such problems for me.. ::touch wood::

I'm also not experiencing this problem after hours of playing through Crysis, HL2, etc.
Yes it gets very warm above the touchpad after games, but I never felt burning. I would have contacted Dell by now if it felt out of the ordinary. -
For the level of use the op has had from the notebook, I would suggest this is outside of the tolerances for comfortable use and therefore contacting Dell technical support to discuss appropriate diagnostics before returning for replacement would be the route to go.
