I bought a DELL Inspiron 6000 and it arrived today. I am not sure if the screen is OK. I got a WXGA LCD. When Windows is booting up and the screen is dark, there seems to be a backlight problem. Also, some places the color seems faded. But I can't see the problem all the time and I am wondering if it is more to do with the room lighting.

Any suggestions as to what and how I can find out if it is OK. Also, does anyone know where I can get the dead pixel detection software.

    Thanks

your screen should be bright.. mine was.. try holding down the FN button and hitting the up arrow.. also it should be brighter by default when you plug it in as opposed to it not being plugged in
