    Help required - Dell factory partitions

    My system is having 4 partitions
    1. Windows
    2. Second Partition
    3. Recovery
    4. 2.5 GB partitioned space which is not listed in my computer.

    What is the use of this recovery partition? Can I burn the data into some DVD and use this 10GB space for something else?

    Is the last 2.5GB partition used by MediaDirect or its just left as it is?

    I am planning for a fresh OS install and want to get rid of all unnecessary things.

    you probably could, though i thought the recovery partition was part of the DataSafe recovery system. you may be able to save it to a DVD instead.

    Get Acronis Disk Image and use the 15 day limited edition to make an exact copy of your original hard drive in case you ever want to go back. From there do a clean install (below) and then tweak (below) and enjoy.

    Oh the backup set you make with acronis has no time limits on it. U can restore a hundred years from now.
