So I got my 1520 today and I began to reformat to one shot all of the bloat ware away. Anyways, right when I was about to download all the drivers I popped in the drivers&utilities CD that my laptop came with. It did a quick hardware scan and detected a GeForce 8400M graphics card instead of the 8600M GT that I ordered. Has anyone else had this problem? Before my reformat, Vista was showing that I indeed had a 8600M GT and now that I do a hardware scan it’s detecting a 8400M.. help

This happened to me when reformatting as well. It seems the default drivers for the video card are very generic. Download the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go.com, and then run windows update again.

Formatting and reinstallation of OS changes hardware! How cheap of Dell!

Anyways, just install the correct driver and your hardware should magically reappear! ;)
