I just got my inspiron 6400 less than a week ago and im having problems with the display. For some reason i get all these distorted images all over the screen, almost like the VGA is overheating.

    Here's a screenshot:

Anyone know what the problem is?

    Thanks

First, i think fonts would me more readable if you enable ClearType.

I'm wondering which graphics card you got: integrated intel, ATi X1300 or X1400, or NV 7300 Go?

    It's an X1300

Temps seem fine (less than 40c)

I think there's nothing wrong with your lappie, you just need to tweak the display settings a little bit. Go to System Properties and select the "Advanced" tab. Click "Settings" under the Performance sub menu. Select "Adjust for best appearance" under the Visual Effect and click OK.

Hope that will help fix your problem.

I just uninstalled the Mobility 6.7 drivers and reinstalled the ones from the Dell website and everything is back to normal so far, but i've only been running them for about 10 mins

Seems that the latest mobility drivers from ATi are a bit dodgy ... ?

You ain't supposed to use the ATi officialy drivers.
