I really don't know very much about computers, so any information would be helpful. If my question seems dumb forgive me in advance, please. Here goes; looking for a laptop not to replaced my desk top but to to be more mobile. On a fixed budget, would like to do simple dvd, cd, pictures, wireless internet, ect. I have probably narrowed my choice down to a Gateway NX 570X or a Compaq C-500 but I am not sold on either 100%. I checked out this forum this AM and was wondering about the Inspirion 1501 or the Vostro 1000, with coupons and discounts they are around five hundred dollars. This is the dumb question the Vostro is listed as a business computer what would be or is there a drawback in using it as a home computer? Also, I have heard about grainy screens with Dell laptops, does this hold true for the two models I have mentioned. Again, any help or advice will be deeply appreciated.

anyone can buy a business copmuter from dell. there is no difference. however if you are using it for dvd's you might want to get vista home premium on your laptop as it has the dvd making software built into it while the home basic doesnt. if you want a more mobile pc, i recomend not going with a 15.4" laptop. as of the grainy screens, im sure you will be fine, these forums are just super excited and worried that their screen will be defective, but most will be just fine.
