    Hello,

I have an issue with my color settings with my Nvidia graphic card. Everytime I put the computer into sleep or hibernation mode and then turn the computer back on the settings go back to normal. I then have to go back to the Nvidia control settings and adjust the settings again(brightness, digital vibrance, contrast, ect). Luckily it remembers my settings so I only have to click it once, but it gets annoying doing this everytime I turn my computer back on. Is this normal? It doesn't do this when I fully restart or shutdown the computer. I called Dell and they said this was normal... Does anyone have any ideas? Oh I have an XPS M1530 if that helps.

Ugh no that is not normal, have you tried reinstalling the nVidia control panel?

Yes I had dell do the direct connect and the person on the other side uninstalled and the reinstalled the graphic driver. The problem didn't get fixed and so they asked their supervisor. The supervisor said this is normal. I don't believe them though. What should I do? Try uninstalling and reinstalling it myself?

Check windows for updates, there is one update for Vista which fixes some sleep mode problems that may or may not help you out. The update is KB946041

And if you are talking to India don't believe a word they say. I have had them lie on so many occasions I lost count.

Hello Baylock. I too had this exact problem. The actual issue is that the Nvidia control panel process must be running in the background for the color scheme to automatically switch to your custom one on startup. You need to have the NvCplDaemon process running. The easiest way to get it back is to reinstall the driver.

Well I just tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the driver. Unfortunately it didn't work... Anyone else have any ideas?

I've been following this issue for a while, and it seems to be a Vista issue, where Vista switches the screen color settings (essentially the RGB gamma curves) at various times (e.g. when it puts up a dialog and greys the rest of the screen), but doesn't change the settings back to whatever you had set.

This issue also makes calibrating the screen unfeasible on Vista with a color measurement device. I'd like to try a workaround of using a sync program to periodically copy over a new calibration file to wherever it goes, but haven't gotten around to that yet.

Did you try the windows update I listed? Did you uninstall the old video drivers first before installing the new one?

    Hey NewDelly,

Yes I uninstalled the old driver and installed the new one. I also already have that window update you mentioned installed.
