    Hello all,
I've had a Studio 1535 since October 2008 and have had no trouble at all (aside from the crazy eject button) until now.
My symptoms are this, DVDs CDs playing and burning work fine. But yesterday I discovered that BR discs are not even recognized any longer.
If I insert a disc and click the BD-Rom icon I only get a "Please insert disc" message and my disc is automatically ejected.
First I tried rebooting - fail
Maxell brushless laser cleaning disc - fail
Updated fw to the latest available on Dell's site - fail
I uninstalled the drive from the device manager and reinstalled it. - fail

Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take before I declare the BR laser dead?

I can't find the B600s for sale anywhere. Does anyone know if Dell has a replacement model? Or the cost of replacement?

On a Newegg review someone bought the B600s and said they had to buy a power adapter to fit it in a external enclosure. Is there anything special I need to look for, connector wise, if I have to buy a slimline slot-loading sata drive?

Thank You in advance for any info you can share with me.

    -Michael

Did you remove and reinstall Power DVD software- also when you go to my computer - does it show media in the device? and are you sure your drive is not a 5600s - not a b600s?

I just double checked and you're right, it's a BC-5600s. And I didn't change any software. If I go to MyComputer it shows an empty drive when clicked it says "Please Insert Disc" and ejects the BluRay.
