    I recently upgraded the OS to 64bit and seen no real benefits. I can't find a good touchpad software that disables it when mouse is plugged in and almost everytime when I'm installing updates or programs it takes FOREVER for them to install (e.g. Adobe Reader progress bar is stuck at 0%, ITunes 64 bit software stuck at 99%, Windows Update stuck at shutdown mode for more than 10 minutes when install 1 update, etc.)

    Plus installing the OS in the first place was such a pain in the butt because of subtle directions given to people with lesser computer knowledge to get and install the proper driver to stop BSOD and even worse, give various dubious ways to solve that problem that only wasted time. (BTW I finally know how to stop BSOD but I'll post that in the the Vista 64 bit upgrade thread.) I'm thinking of just going back to 32 bit Vista since there aren't as many hassles. If anyone can be kind enough to direct me why my M1330 is acting retarded with 64 bit Vista then please tell me. (I'm guessing it might be VLite which I used to burn the OS.)

    Its either vLite and what you stripped out, or MS itself. They kind of screwed up with Vista, so this doesn't surprise me much.

    Sorry to hear about your problems; I can probably point out a number of things that would assist.

    1. All of the software and drivers you need are listed in 64 bit threads here, including your touchpad software;

    2. You need to follow a specific pattern also available on the threads. There are tons of us who have the same laptop with the same hardware as you and we will never go back to 32bit. You could easily follow my Clean Install thread for 64 Bit and it will work just fine.

    3. Drivers can be tricky. Most downloaded them all first and then went through with the installation. For things such as the webcam, you still need to install the original disk;

    4. Updates - They will all come in eventually. I have done a number of 64bit systems and will say the support for 64 bit is incredible , not only for the updates but also hardware drivers;

    5. Itunes (lol) - Only recently did they come out with a 64bit update and you need to make sure that is used after your system is set up.

    6. AHCI - is straightforward and again listed in many threads to assist. You need to download the package to a flash disk and expand it there. Start the Vista installation and when you get to the screen where you select the partition to install to, you press the 'Install Drivers' button and direct the following screen to your flash disk. It will find the AHCI driver and you accept it and continue...simple as that.

    As to why your system is acting retarded...please don't be offended but everything in your post spells 'RUSHED!'

    You need the patience to put it together a piece at a time and make sure of each step. Once it is together and your updates have completed and all the drivers are in, follow the Tweaking Thread below. You will be amazed.

    If you search you will find the 'Team x64' thread where there are many many people that will assist you at any point, all of whom swear by the world and the performance increase of x64.
