    Hi

I am trying to help someone whose's inspiron 6400 hard drive seems to have been corrupted. I have got a new hard drive which I will install, however I want to receover some data from old hard drive and need some help.

I have got a USB caddy to convert old hard drive into a USB one to recover data. However where do I find following data in the hard drive:

1- Outlook emails from INBOX (not PST). Is it possible to recover this file?
2- Same as above item 1 but for outlook contacts? Where is the contacts file stored?
3- Is it possible to find out product key for Microsoft office that was installed on the PC? Not sure if it is stored in the registry file and if so can I access it through a USB connection?

    Thanks
    o

For one are you sure it's not Outlook Express vs Outlook? Outlook has always used PST files while Outlook Express was like dbx or something funky.

PST files are hidden, you have to show hidden files/folders, and it's like App Data or Local and under Microsoft in your Users/Documents and Settings folder.

As for the COA for Office, you can try the paid version of Keyfinder.
