I am going to order the e1505 from Dell tomorrow, since they said they will be shipping with Vista starting tomorrow, at least according to the rep I just spoke with...

Here are the Specs I have as of now- Its pretty loaded just not sure if I need it all, although I like having the top technology :)

    T7200 core2DUo
    15.4 WSXGA screen
    256 Video
    2gb Ram 667
    100 HD 7200
    Bluetooth
    Carbon fiber snap on
Intel Wireless...those are the main specs..

I can get it for 1326 before tax which is a pretty good deal, that I Can't find at any other company right now...

    Here's where I need the help...I can bring it down $200 if I make it 2gb 533 ram and a 120gb 5400 hard drive....

I need advice on if it is worth the extra $200 for these 2....I do a little of games, lots of surfing, and nothing else too crazy, just want to know how much these 2 upgrades are worth, even though I know the system will be powerful either way...or which is more important the HD @7200 or ram at 667....

Also- just a tought if anybody has seen both, which is nicer- the Carbon fiber quick snap, or charcoal leather?

    Thanks for the help.

Choose the 1.83 processor and the 5400 Hard drive. The 7200 hard drive and the 2.0 ghz processor are useless and overkill.

Keep the T7200...2.0 GHZ will reward you down the line

I agree about the RAM. Get the 533, for it has faster latency than the 667 so the actual speed of both is about the same. Stay with 2GB

As far as HDD...I went with the 120 GB 5400 RPM. Has larger platters, so as it is not AS fast as 7200 rpm...it actually gets closer because of the platter density.

    Other than that...you're good

Thanks for the help...I think I will stay with the t7200, since it's only $75 more.

Nobody has really told me too much about the 667 advantages and since Im guessing the 533 is almost as fast from what i heard I will get that.

Also I guess the 120gb will be ok since I actually get a little more space to use although it's a little slower.

That will bring the price down to 1126 which I think is probably better then any deal that you can find today on a laptop....Will this system be more then fast enough for web surfing with multiple windows, light games, and word processing?

    thanks again

Well in my opinion - 7200 RPM disk surely is a good choice. I am not sure how platter density contributes to speed (i.e. match the speed performance) of a 5400 RPM hard disk. I compared the performance of a 80GB 7200 RPM hard disk and 80GB 5400 hard disk. The first one definitely performs better and "feels better" too.. :)

I'm not gettting a message at all. AT first my 20% off discount was doing the same thing, nothing happens when I enter it w/o error or anything. Now i finally got it to work, and 5% off is not changing anything w/o error message...
