Just setting up a new laptop for a family member (17" Inspiron). Dell Safe Online was preinstalled but is not needed as they already have a backup solution. I uninstalled it but in the system tray the icon is still there (black square with a white 9 in it). Clicking (right or left, single or double) on the icon does nothing, as does hovering over it.. I can't get rid of it, there is nothing obvious in the startup listed in ms config and no process running. program files directory does not even have the folder for the program any more.

Any ideas ? I just want to ditch the icon from the system tray.

    Thanks

Remove it from your startup folder and disable it in msconfig. That works for me, even w/o uninstalling.
