    Hi

I have a dell inspirion m630. I have just had a big clean up on it and erased a lot of programs. By mistake I erased Media direct, wich I think resultet in that I can't use the buttons on the front of the computer to turn volume up and down play etc. in e.g. I-tunes.

It also results in that my computer freeze when I by mistake hit the buttons. Is there anyway to fix this problem with out calling dell and buy the recovery cd.

Looking forword to hear from you.

You mention Dell quickset. But dosn't that have to do with the powermanagament of the battery? Dos that have anything to do with the media buttons?

I haven't installed Dell quickset its still on the computer. I think the problem is with the Mediacenter. Any other ideas??

That's what i thought, however after i did the reformat/reinstall the media direct button would not take me into XP-MCE like its supposed to southerngirl suggested it and that solved the problem. however i didn't try the front buttons when i noticed this but i do know that when i didnt have it installed the Fn+<KEYS> did not pop up there associated pictures but now they do. Try and reinstall if it doesn't help you can always uninstall it but do a restart

Are you sure you erased MediaDirect? MediaDirect isn't accessible in XP, so I wonder if you deleted Dell Media Experience (which is the software that runs when you are in XP when you press the MediaDirect) or part of Media Center Experience if you have XP MCE.
