I currently have two orders for the system placed.....both have upgraded graphics card, LED display w/ camera, 3 year warranty and accident protection, , better wireless card, and 160gb 7200 rpm hard drives. The only difference between the two systems is one has 3 years of PC care, a fingerprint reader, and a 2.2 ghz processor ($2210) and the other drops the PC care and fingerprint reader, but has a 2.4 ghz processor ($2050). On one hand, I think it makes sense to get the better processor model for cheaper from a functional perspective....but I like the cool factor of the fingerprint reader. Any suggestions?

I would take a fingerprint reader over a 200Mhz increase any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Keeps you from having to remember more passwords and the only way to tell the difference b/w the two computers is to run synthetic benchmarks.

Core 2 Duos also overclock like crazy so if you really want the e-peen factor of a 2.4Ghz, you can just overclock it in your BIOS. 200Mhz is an extremely easy and low-risk overclock.

Does Dell now have overclocking options in their bios?

no. the only one that allowed this was the 1710 xps and using a t7600g chip.

I would definitely take the Fingerprint Reader and better warranty over the slightly better processor.

If I add the fingerprint reader, the Dell rep told me my order will have to be re-entered and I'll get pushed to the back of the line with a new order number and later ship date. Seems like a crappy way to handle a relatively simple order modification, but that's the conundrum.

It's your choice. Its either faster shipping date or fingerprint reader. Just made a decision based on your needs and usage. Only you know your needs best! :)

I think you need PC care. If anything goes wrong you are going to be SOL without it...

Not to knock on the m1330 (I bought one), but being a brand new unit and design you never know if it will be more prone to failure or unreliable in some way. Especially the first few build dates...
