    Hello guys,

Please help me, I'm in deep water! I've just received my e1505/6400 and I'm not feeling OK with the screen. The problem is that I know nothing about LCD Screens, Light Leakage etc, just some readings I did here in some threads.

I've got a WXGA Glossy Screen and I'm trying to take some pictures to show you about it but what's the best way to take those pictures? If I use zoom, it seems to mask a little bit the light leakage problem and if I increase the exposure will have too much light.

Anyway, I'm sending the pictures I took, perhaps it is enough to say that I do need to replace the screen. Some of them might look very nice but I don't now if I'm taking correctly the pictures.

    Thanks

Yes unfortunately you have light leakage.

It will be most noticible with dark backgrounds...particuarly in dvd playback. You should decide if you can live with it - more than likely a Dell eplacement would be just as bad if not worse.

Personally, I believe you should not have light leakeage. It seems to be Dell's use of sub par LCD distributers and/ or manufacturing/ assembly issues.

Visit your local Apple Store, CompUSA, Best Buy or Circuit City...you will be hard pressed to find this problem on another machine.

It's sad to see some people who replaced their laptops got another even worse, but I think I'll do it. And I can't check my Original System Configuration in Dell's Support Page because my Service Tag (U7670) seems to be wrong, it's refering to a Dektop.

Pictures with server problems... have a look.

All screens suffer from some amount of light leakage. I don't think this the pictures you're showing exhibit an unusual amount of leakage.

All DELL screens suffer from leakage. If you wanted a stunning LCD, you should have gotten a Sony or Samsung.

Yah its pretty bad, I wouldnt say thats normal.

Yeah, my screen doesn't have any light leakage. When I first recieved the machine I noticed I had a white stuck pixel. I tried massaging it back to life but no go. Called up Dell, requested a replacement screen and the replacement is fine. No light leakage on either one.
