I don't have problems putting my system in hibernation mode. It will wake up successfully and everything. But when I'm ready to it shut it down, it hangs up on me. I have to take out the battery to turn it off. So far it happened twice already. This problem started happening after I installed the Dell AIO Printer driver.![]()
I don't use hibernation much (would rather put it in stanby mode), but it bugs me that this started happening.

Does removing the driver resolve the problem?
Have you check to see if there is an updated MCE driver for the Dell AIO? -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
instead of removing the battery, try holding the power button down for about 5 seconds, that should turn it off, I dont use hibernation, so I cant help in that regard

Thank you for replying.
I do have the latest AOI driver. I unistalled it, but the problem is still there. -
So its safe to say the AIO driver was not the cause of this.
Can you loggoff and then try shutting down from the login screen.
Have you tried reinstalling MCE instant on driver ? (Check device manager under system devices to see if this driver is installed this model may not have this device) -
A Question about Hibernation: Is Hibernation a safe mode to be using when the laptop is going to be placed into a bag and carried place to place? Are the fans running at any time or heat being emitted? If so, I'd imagine this would be a problem component wise. What exactly is the difference between Hibernation and Standby?
-
Standby keeps the machine running, but turns off the screen and hard drives to conserve some power.
Hibernation saves whatever is in the RAM to the HDD and then switches itself off completely, so it uses no power but when you turn it back on again everything you had open is still there.
If you're transporting - hibernate. -
Hmm...usually when it hangs something is having a hard time trying to shut off. Try going to run - msconfig and see under the service is there anything that shouldn't be there.
-
The problem magically disappeared. It was probably just a fluke!
Thanks everyone for replying. I appreciate it. -
woot. hibernation is a shutdown with a system restore point.
