Can anyone tell me how to stop by laptop from hibernating when I close the cover? I'm using a Inspiron 1520.

under control panel/power options (power configuration for vista, i think)/advanced there is an option for what the computer does when you close it. change it from hibernate to whatever you like.

Just click on the battery icon on the taskbar, then "More Power Options", "Change Plan Settings", "Change Advanced Power Settings", expand the "Power buttons and lid" option in the list and change the lid close action to whatever you choose.
