    Hello,
I have a weird issue with hibernation. I have a dell inspiron e1505. Sometimes after it hibernates and i try to start it up again, it just goes to a blank screen and won't respond. I have to hold down the power button and shut it off. Then other times it works fine. However, it only seems to work if I don't leave it for too long. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had a Dell 5150 laptop and it did this same thing, Never could figure why! But otherwise it was an excellent
    laptop.
    Wish i could help!

I think that most people have this problem. Hibernation just seems to have a problem with it generally. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

I had this problem also but my screen froze. Couple of suggestions - first reflash the BIOS. That solved my problem but I can't guarantee that it will fix it. Another problem that might be causing it is driver conflict or junkware. If you haven't reformatted, either reformat or go to services.msc/msconfig and turn off as many processes as you can.

I've tried all of that except reinstalling XP. I have a OS CD coming from Dell. Once it gets here i'm going to do a clean install. These things come with so much crap on them, it's ridiculous. Thanks for the replies.

I don't think it is related to hardware/hdd. It might be, but all of the evidence that I've seen generally points to software or drivers conflicts.
