When i use my inspiron1520, the temperature of the cpu would be around 60c which i believe is high, ingame it can spike to 80c, that is ridiculously high. Are any of you inspiron1520 owners dealing with the same problem. I have my laptop set on a targus laptop cooler, im even thinking about putting icepacks under my laptop when i game.

    Thanks!

The whole purpose of undervolting is to decrease temperatures, especially peak temps experienced with number crunching, gaming, etc.

There's virtually nothing to lose by undervolting, except the heat ;)

Notebook coolers like the Zalman NC-1000 or NC-2000, or CoolerMaster NotePal Infinite might help too...

i had the same problem as u, cpu temp spiked to almost 80C on full load. i opened up the whole laptop, get rid of all the dust that was stuck inside the heatsink and fan, assembled the laptop back and VIOLA! temp immediately drop to max load 63C or less! what a huge difference.

Those temps are still within the norm. I would consider opening the case up and applying some artic silver as a means of reducing temps somewhat.

can anyone explain how to open the inspiron 1520 for cleaning. I just stuck the compressed air in the vents and sprayed like crazy, i dont think it worked very effectively.

erm.. a philips head screw driver and a little bit of guts? u start with the plastic panel on the top (see a small dent on the right? insert something flat in and it will pop up, then slowly work your way to the back where almost all the screws are located. always double check to see if you've not removed any screws. never use brute force, and open at your own risk. for me personally, the reward is worth the risk, just need a good 2 hours and some effort.
