I was wondering if anybody has used the 7 pin s-video to component adapter that ATI has. Part#6110017600. I want to play HD files on my HDTV. I know they have a VGA to component adapter also. Again, not listed for X300. I was told that the X300 is not built by ATI. The chip is only but not the board so Dell could have some screwy pin out.

Hmm. I dont know if it is possible to connect to an HDTV with a converter cable (VGA>DVI-D).

The X300 is built by ATI

Check www.ati.com and look at the mobility radeon x300, and see if it lists anything for "HD". Then you will know for sure wether or not you can connect.

Oh, and if your notebook has an SVIDEO cable, you can connect that way too.

yes is possible to connect a DVI/VGA component adapter to an HDTV. I used the ATI adapter on a 9800pro for a HTPC. Of course the X300 isn't listed for any adapter and ATI said to contact Dell cause they put it in.

    S-video equals no HD!

Well that's bad. I use the S-video from my laptop to connect to my TV to watch a movie - I don't have any problems with it. I have an HDTV too.
