I'm waiting for #4 laptop from Dell. First two were 1520's - both with
    annoying noise.

then changed to M1330 thinking better quality might help. Not so.
Awaiting #4. If this one has the high pitched noise - not sure what
    to do.

I called Dell and was reassured they would fix problem. I still like
Dell but am wondering if the 'decision makers' at Dell really know about
    this 'whining noise' ?

any suggestions on what i should do if #4 has the noise?

    thx, newbie Mt9

Both my Vostro and my desktop Dimension 9100 have this annoying noise when I use headphones. I think it is a general issue with the sound cards they use or something.

Thanks so much for the RMclock solution. I'm keeping nearby. i'm just a little uncomfortable making changes. i wonder if Dell would consider
sending a tech out to make changes. just a thought.

The Rev A04 Motherboard will fix this issue on the M1330, but Dell doesn't have them in stock and may not be able to get them for a while. Basically their previous supplier for some parts on the board is now working exclusively for HP, so they are trying to get another vendor.

The solution is known, but the ETA on it is not.
