I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 with a WUXGA lcd and it emits a high pitched squeeking sound. It is not continuous but very frequent and it is definately affected by nudging the lcd back and forth or hitting the machine, so I think its related to the lcd. Does anyone have any suggestions, I took the whole computer apart and put it back together and it it still here.

    Thanks
    jt

Sounds like it could be the inverter for the LCD backlight. Does the sound stop when the screen shuts off?
