Here is my question... I currently have high speed internet and cable tv from the same provider running over a coax cable. I want to drop the cable tv and move to DirecTV, but keep my intenet access the same. Is it possible to have more than one service provider running signals over the same cable line?

I understand that this posting isn't directly related to Dell or laptops, however, I've come to trust the advice from this forum and thought I would ask.

No, you will need separate cables for DirecTV and cable service internet since they are from 2 separate service providers. Probably the easiest thing to do is keep your existing cables in place for TV(s) then run a new one for the cable modem. Although if you switch to DirecTV they may just run new TV cables for you as part of their install.

Another thing to note, if you drop cable TV but keep cable internet...the price of your internet service will most likely go up since you will no longer be bundling services (ie: most cable ISPs charge $50 if you have cable TV...your internet will probably go up $5-10 if you drop TV)

Thanks snork! You confirmed my thinking.

Funny how when you order a Blu-Ray drive for a laptop, leads to a new Blu-Ray player, new HD TV, new cable tv service. Its safe to say... the wife hates my laptop now. :)
