Well basically i downloaded 'notebook hardware control' because i was intrested to see the temps of my cpu, and i think they are worryingly high.
At the moment all i am doing is typing this post and running HNC and the cpu temp is 50c, about 5 minutes ago all i was doing was browsing ebay and it was all the way up at 66c.
do i have a problem? should i phone dell?
edit: fan came on for about a minute and didn't seem to change the temp, it's now climbed back up to 67c... should i phone dell?

How long have you had your laptop ? How much dust could have gotten into the laptop ?
Well, my idle CPU temp is 51 and when stressed enough it even hits 80.
I don't think it's dangerous for the CPU -
i've not had it long, almost a month.
my room is pretty dusty. i never dust

Yea, mine regularly sits around 80-81C when playing a game like C&C 3 or encoding just about anything major.

Well then, make sure you clean the laptop from time to time. You can see the instructions in the cooling guide.I think the two ways are to use compressed air cans or to open the thing and clean it physically.
High cpu temps. (inspiron 9400)
