    Hi,
My company is going to buy me a new notebook. I'm planning to get the very best 15.4" money can buy :). I looked around and found that Dell is pretty good quality in general. Could you please advice me which line should I go for ? Inspiron or Precision?

    My specs are:
    CPU: T7500 or T7700
    RAM: 4GB DDR2
    HD: SATA 120GB or 160GB (7200RPM)
    WiFi: 802.11a/b/g/n + Bluetooth
    Screen: 15.4" WUXGA
    Graphics: 256MB nVidia
Battery: Option for bigger battery size
    Docking: Advanced port replicator
    DVD: DL/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    Microsoft Office Small Business

    Cheers
    dMan

Precision is the high end for Dell.
Latitude is mid range, still very good.

If you have the money, go for Precison. Then you can say "just like Michael Dell, I have a Precision Notebook". The new 4300 should be nice. WUXGA is maybe too much, i hope your eyes are as sharp!

    Except that, that's really a monster ;)

    Hi risbac,
OK, I'll settle for a WSXGA. I checked the Precision and have couple of notes:
1- When choosing Vista Premium I get an error, I have to get Vista Business.
2- No HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. Not even DL

Other than that it looks very nice...

The Latitude D830 and the Precision M4300 are almost the same notebook.

The M4300 will be more expensive since it's ISV-certified and the video card will come with OpenGL drivers. Also, there might be some differences in ports.

If you want the best 15.4" notebook with all the features you listed (Blu-Ray etc.), then check out the HP 8510w.

It's a business oriented notebook. That's why you HAVE to choose Vista business, and you don't have the option for HD-DVD or Blueray yet. If you want a machine more entertainment oriented, you may also check the VX notebooks from Asus. Very very stylish (leather palmrest, beautiful!).
