Can you not close the laptop or does the laptop not stay shut? You might be looking at a new latch rather than new hinges?

    Laptop does not close.
It will lock if forced closed.
The lock is not the problem.
It stays at about 45 degrees and will come flat to close

You could remove the basil around the lcd screen and the power button cover and inspect the hinges themselves.

I have a E1505 and just recently I had to tighten my hinges because it wouldnt stay open and it was real floppy.

My son's computer a 1505, had loose hinges ( from the idiot carrying the computer by the screen) I Looked at the hinges by carefully prying off the plastic cover up where the power button is and tightened the screws that hold the hinges to the bottom, it helped a lot.

the hinges are metal ( good thing) but the screws can become loose off the board after a time.

get the instructions in a PDF of the schematics for the 1505, you can google them and see how it is assembled it helps.

    BINGO!

This is very typically the problem with some of the Dell notebooks, but as DRFP has pointed out, you can simply pop the plastic covering off and tighten the screws. This will typically fix the problem, if not completely, it will make it a lot more sturdy.
