    Would the Hitachi Travelstar 500gb 7200rpm 2.5" x 1/8H internal hard drive fit a Inspiron 1750 as a direct replacement ?

    As long as you aren't looking at one of the early 12.5mm high drives, it'll work.

    1/8 what? Inches? Centimeters? I don't think there are such things as 1/8 inch or centimeter high drives. Can you provide a link to the actual product?

    Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 never existed in 12.5mm format so all 7K500 drives are good for your system, they all 9.5mm drives.
