    Dear Friends,

Does anyone have any tips on how to solve my problem:

Let's say I want to search the web or preform any task on my M1530 LCD display, but at the same time, have a video-stream/movie/game in fullscreen displayed on my HDTV (will connect by HDMI).

How does one go about preforming this?

    Thank you :)

Connect your m1530 to an HDTV, open a web browser and play a movie.

Basically that :p, all you have to do then is to [literally] drag the movie into the TV because the TV is acting as an extended screen. (Just make sure you drag it in the right direction :D)

To stretch the desktop across both displays

Make sure you have securely connected the additional displays you want to use to your computer.

Verify that your displays are plugged in and turned on.

From the NVIDIA Control Panel navigation tree pane, under Display, click Set up multiple displays to open the page.

In step 1, select either the Horizontal Span or the Vertical Span option.

In step 2, click the display pair list and select the pair of displays corresponding to the position of your displays. For example, for display pair A + B, you can choose the "A + B" option or the "B + A" option, depending on how your displays are positioned.

The desktop is stretched across both displays.

You can span the desktop, but there's also the "configure each display separately" option (from memory, forgive me). This is the one I use because when I close my laptop lid, it automatically changes my external monitor to be the primary display (i.e., moves the taskbar to the monitor).

You can get tripped up if you drag a window to the external display, close the window and switch off the display. Next time you open the app, it moves the window off-screen. You need to switch on the external display to see the window.

Hmm, sounds confusing but duable. Maybe I should rephrase it:

Let's say one day, I want to write a transcript for a video broadcast, I want my Word Processor maximized on my Laptop M1530 screen, and then hooked up by HDMI, I want my HDTV to have the internet streaming video broadcast in fullscreen, so I can get make a full transcript of events.

Two different mediums (laptop screen-word processor, hdtv-footage), same device (laptop). What function is preferred to do this:

    Clone
    Extend Desktop
    Theater Mode
    ?

Thank you so much, this will save a lot of time and energy if this is resolved here. You guys & gals are the greatest!!!

Easiest way to go about doing this would be to plug the HDMI cable in and press Fn+F10(I think, look for a monitor symbol on top of your function keys) and hopefully the laptop will be able to automatically detect your tv. If that doesn't work, then, with the HDMI cable plugged in, reboot the laptop and your laptop should detect the TV.

If, for some odd reason, none of them work, right click your desktop, click properties>settings and then right click the monitor with the number "2" and click "attached" (I'm doing this from memory so the words may be a little different). Then click apply and ok. Make sure your resolution for Screen number "2" is set to one that your TV can support.

Extended Desktop. Set the laptop as primary display and then drag the web browser to the TV.

When unplugged from the TV, minimize and maximize the windows on the taskbar and it will return to the laptop.
