I have an M1530 and it came with the crappy CPT Chungwha screen. The LCD has sever backlight bleeding. I argued with DELL XPS Support for a while and they agreed to "notate" my "request" for an LG screen.

    Let's see what happens

You had to argue with them to get the screen fixed? Dell uses panels other than the Samsung and the LG for their m1530???! WHOA. That's news to me. Hope you get that LG screen.

I think you might have missed the sarcasm in the other reply... My apologies to iNoob.x if the reply was not sarcastic.

Anyway, read the Top 10 questions about the M1530, link is in my sig.

I researched for a while and am not getting a clear concise answer on what people think of the AU Optronics Screens. Any input on them is appreciated.

From experience AUO is decent, but it's in no way perfect. I bought a Samsung 2232GW 22" Desktop LCD that has an AUO panel. Before you ask: no, Samsung does not use their own panels in all their monitors but it is highly desired because Samsung makes some of the best LCD panels in the world (the problem with the ones that Dell use on the XPS were a surprise to me). Anyway, there is very minor (barely noticable) light bleeding from the bottom of my screen when the picture is completely black. However, the picture quality on this thing is AMAZING. It is also very bright. I love this monitor.

EDIT: I could post some picture if you want, but I don't really have a camera...except my 2MP LG Shine phone.

Well the AUO versus the LG what do you guys think?

I mean I always thought the Chungwha screen looked DECENT. But I was never happy with the viewing angles. I just recently discovered what back-light bleeding is and now I can't stand it!

If I still have issues with the AUO screen then I'll have to be persistent and request an LG replacement.

Looks like the LG LED replacements are not too expensive on eBay:

Well, you already paid good money on a new laptop, so why should you pay more to get a proper screen? I say just bee persistent and you'll get your LG.

Your link got me thinking, is there a standard for manufacturing panels? What I mean is, can you take any 15.4" CCFL panel and stick it in your 15.4" laptop? Will all the screw holes match up to the casing and everything?

Is that link to Ebay, will it work on 1530's? I got a great deal on my 1530, but only have the 1280x800. I mean that is pretty cheap for a screen.

Those prices are very good esp. for the LG LED panels!
