So I am trying to clean install my m1330. I have tried to load the 64 bit version and then the 32 bit version. I had it working for about 2 days, then I tried the media direct button and (because I forgot to reinstall the media direct software) gave me a ntldr is missing error. That lead to not being able to ever again boot in windows. I paniced and went and bought a hard drive enclosure and got the files I needed off and started reloading vista. I have done it about 12 times and each time I finish it boots directly into a blue screen, or I get up and start loading something on and on the first reboot it blue screens. I have tried repairing it from the vista install disk. I have switched versions to see if it was the 64 bit version. I even got another hard drive and tried that just in case it was a bad hard drive. Any suggestions? (By the way, I bought this off of ebay and the warranty transition is not complete yet so I haven't bugged Dell yet. Should be done by tomorrow or the next day, which is a holiday in the US so probably Tuesday before I can call support.)

You need to load the sata drivers during the Vista install. There is a thread by Flamenko that provides you with a lot of information regarding a clean install.

Got it. I got the 64 bit business working with two problems. No fingerprint reader and the IR remote isn't working. Any help? I looked around and I haven't found anything.
