I just got a new Dell xps1710 running Vista. I was already struggling with Windows xp, but Vista has me completely lost. I'm trying to install Adobe Flash Player from the internet. I go through all the steps on the Adobe site and it tells me that Flash Player is successfully installed. When I go back to Vista to launch a Flash Player application, but only Adobe Acrobat launches. If I right click on the application, it offers to display programs I can launch it with, but when I hit the Browse button, Adobe Flash Player is not listed as an option. If I look at all my programs in Vista, Adobe Flash Player is not listed. However, I know it's there somewhere, because when I go to the Control Panel to uninstall programs, Adobe Flash Player is listed. I'm completely lost.

Sorry, that didn't work. Still can't find Adobe Flash Player listed among programs, but it's there when I go to uninstall. I hate Vista. Thanks for the help, anyway.

Maybe I should also clarify that I can run FlashPlayer content on the web. What I want to be able to do is download FlashPlayer files and run them later from my computer. However, when I open a downloaded file, FlashPlayer doesn't run (it tries to launch in Adobe Reader).

Turn off UAC...then try. I had the same problem at one point. You can turn UAC back on after the install I think.
