I had problems with my L501x and so I sent it back to Dell. They replaced 11 items and one of the items was my wireless card. I had paid for a 6300 originally and now when I go into Device Manager it says that a 6250 is installed. Is it possible they installed the wrong drivers or would the 6250 drivers not work with a 6300 hardware? I'm wondering if there's anyway I can tell without physically opening up the case?
[This might be better in the XPS sub-forum. Is there a reason we can't delete posts? I would've done that and moved this, but I can't see how to delete it.]

6250 drivers wouldn't work on the 6300 and vice versa. If you have the drivers for the 6250 installed then you have a 6250 card. The program I use is belarc. It just gives you a rundown of whats on your pc. Or you can use hwinfo 32 or 64, and when you start it uncheck the sensors option and click run. Navigate to your network or communications thingy and it'll tell you what you have and what driver you are on.

Open the laptop up and look for the WLAN card. It is easily accessible by removing the bottom panel.
