Well, I am gonna install XP on meh brand New Inspiron 1420 this weekend. Thing is that, i have four partitions on it, including the 78 MB FAT16 Diagnosis Partition. Now i am not sure whether to keep the partition or clean it. What u guys think, is keeping the Diagnosis partition is worth? & suppose i deteted it & formated the HDD, can i create it bak? so that i can just run the HDD diagnosis by pressing the F12 next time?
One more Q?, i wanna repartition the HDD, so shud i do it using the normal XP method or am i suppose to use Dell Media Direct Disk? I already deleted the Dell Media Partition on HDD using the Paragon. Coz i never use it.
Cheers

You don't need it. I removed mine. You can download a file/program from Dell that allows you to make a self-booting disc.
Without it on the HDD, I'm not sure the F12 function will work. I've never checked. -
First, forum rules says to wait 24 hours before bumping. 58 views is nothing.

About the 76MB partition. What difference does it make? It's 76MB which I don't think you'll miss. I would leave it.
If you don't want media direct then don't use the media direct disk to re-install the OS. -
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
but if u have any problems and need to troubleshoot, the diagnosics thing might be useful..... in any case, any tech support thru Dell would ask u to go thru the diagnostics first...... just keep it
How Important Is Diagnosis Thing
