How long will the computer in my sig last for gaming (newest games lowest settings) AND How long will it last for normal tasks such as Internet Browsing, Music, AIM?

Also, Is it possible to get Vist Home Premium with my Vostro, maybe by calling them?

For standard tasks such as web-browsing, AIM, etc... your laptop will last indefinitely.

For gaming at LOWEST settings, I give it 2 to 2 and 1/2 years. But that's speculation, for it's hard to predict the path of gaming requirements for laptops except for the fact that they will increase.

If you want Vista Home Premium, you should call them. It's worked in reverse for Inspiron buyers looking for XP, so it's worth a shot for the Vostro.

At lowest settings I think it would last a long while. My desktop is 4 years old and it's still running new games at medium settings. It wasn't really top of the line back then, either.

Thanks for the rep eric. ;)

Don't compare a desktop's gaming life to a notebook's. They aren't comparable (at least at this time).

i tend to think your laptop can last 1-2 years on medium setting, I know this is desktop but I had a TI4200 last me 2-3 years and I only replaced it because the fan broke. I also had a 6800(bought one generation after its release, so already kinda "outdated") last me 1.5 years
