So one time it took me just a single business day. Now I am trying to transfer warranty on my E6410 and it's take me weeks. I know on the support page they claim that it will take how ever many days, but in reality, does long is it supposed to take?
Frustrated due to heat and screen issue that needs to be fixed.

It used to be instantaneous. Lately (maybe last year), I haven't ever seen it take shorter than the "15 business days" stated when you submit the form. And obviously it usually doesn't work anymore if you don't know the old info.

I had to call Dell a few times and a quick email from Customer Support to the Dell Warranty Transfer team usually resulted in a successful transfer within a few days.
You should still be able to get technical support even if the transfer has not happened yet all you need is the Service Tag and Express Service Code.
I done It myself a few times. -

Just got a rejection email since the previous owner didn't get back to them. Hmm... This machine has over 1 year of warranty.. I guess Ill keep trying.
Dave: how do you get support when not fully transferred? I thought you needed it completely transferred for parts dispatch. No? -
Well if the transfer was rejected, that will be an issue, you may have to start calling Dell, or get the original owner to initiate the transfer for you.
I called Support and told them I just bought the laptop (off Ebay) and they agreed to send me the parts to fix my problem - hard drive failed.
now that was on a Precision laptop which came with a 3 year international warranty so they could send parts anywhere under that. -

Feb 2012 when I bought my M4600 had it sent to my Hotel in New York, and Dell sent me a replacement hard Drive to the hotel.

Hmmm.. I will send in another request and give them a call. Yeah the screen definitely needs replacing..

If you get denied because of no response, try submitting another ownership transfer (using the service tag detection utility), and also completing the form here:
https://www.onlineregister.com/dell/?c=US&l=EN
After getting a denial email, I contacted the asset recovery company that I purchased my Optiplex 980 from, who said that some of their customers had success using this procedure.
I did both of those steps, but never got any further emails from Dell. However, after three weeks, I called them to check the owner information, and it had my first and last name (but no other information, such as company, address, phone, email). Hopefully this will work for you too. -

Robin:
I just submitted that. Thanks. I remember submitting something similar for the E6400 I picked up on Ebay along with the system detection tag transfer I made on the support site.
i guess fingers crossed for now! -
Make sure you also resubmit the ownership transfer, since it won't hurt. If you don't hear back from Dell by April, call them and ask to verify the owner information.

BOOM Robin. Got the registration successful email right after using that link. and BOOM. transferred!
You just saved me a good $100 here. Thanks again bro! -
Hold on...was the email to confirm your registration, or ownership transfer?
I don't remember if I had gotten an email confirming the submission of registration, but you need to call Dell to verify that the ownership information has been updated. -

Submission of registration. Looks like my info shows up on the tech support's screen. Waiting for him to pull up dispatch tool to get me my parts. If he tells me that something is wrong with the warranty, I will post back.

BOOM. Got the dispatch number and all. Only thing is, the call type is shown as: Out of Waranty-Onsite
But I think that will probably change within couple days of system update. As far as is, im getting the NBD support.
Thanks again man! -
I would make sure everything is correct, before getting excited...Out of Warranty-Onsite does not sound right, and you may end up getting invoiced for parts & labor.

The tech support guy mentioned no need pay, as according to the warranty I have.
If there was an invoice though, won't they let me know before they dispatch the parts? I don't see how tech will show up with an invoice and tell me he won't fix until I pay.
I just checked my E6400 history, and it also showed the same status. I had multiple parts replaced on it later on and had no invoice problem. Just looks like that is the status it shows temporarily after warranty registration. -
I've never had a tech come out, so I'm not sure. However, it definately should not show Out of Warranty for the service call type. I would call back and ask why it shows that...

I guess I can ask when the customer care opens tomorrow.

My transfer for my M4700 was submitted on Feb 27th, and I received the notice of transfer March 18th

Tech just came to replace the LCD and all. Flickering is still here... Another dispatch coming. But looks like no problem with the warranty transfer!
Thank really god the warranty is intact..
